Recently, many people in the united states have become more health conscious, and more choosy when it comes to the food they eat, the clothes they wear, the food they feed to their children, the food they feed to their pets, what they plant in their garden, and what they use to clean the house.
This has signaled a large increase in the purchase of products that are certified organic.
Many people are looking for extra insurance for the purchases they are making. Just as airbags and seatbelts in your car make you feel safer when you drive, organic shopping and other products make you feel safer when you use them to.
Americans are tired of worrying whether or not their meat or vegetables are tainted with e coli. They are tired of worrying about rBST growth hormones in their milk. They are also worried about pesticides such as DDT in their vegetables. Not to mention Mad Cow Disease.
There are many reasons why people have started going organic:
To avoid ingesting pesticides that come from large agribusiness crops
To avoid synthetic hormones and other chemicals and additives found in milk, dairy, and meat
To avoid antibiotics often used in farm animals (dairy cattle, pigs, chickens, etc.)
To preserve their environment
To support local or other small farmers who can’t compete with the larger agribusiness farms
Other products will not offer you piece of mind like organic products will. When you buy an organic product you’re not buying that organic product, you’re buying the opportunity to use or consume that product without worrying about the side effects that come from consuming heavily processed products.
That’s why if you decide to go organic you should look for the official USDA-certified organic seal on the products you are about to purchase. These products have to meet rigorous standards to make sure they qualify. So if you do decide to purchase organic news you can be sure it met the quality standards put forth by the USDA.
