I'm too old to start a nursing career.

I don't want to start off on an entry level salary again.

However, that is only the beginning. Once you get experience as a nurse, you can take your career to the next level to make more money. The key there is to continue your education. After getting your masters or a doctorate degree, you can become a consultant for a hospital.

I'll never be able to afford nursing school.

You're not the only one who is concerned with the high tuition of school and training. This is a concern for many families. Especially since your switching careers, you're probably more concerned about paying for your children's schooling. Keep in mind, are many financial aid programs available to help you pay for school. There may be financial aid programs where you start paying the loan back after you graduate. Your first step here is to talk to your guidance counselor.
