So What Is A Yeast Infection?

Everyone in the world has the potential to suffer a yeast infection at least once.

Our immune system usually keeps the yeast fungus in check but sometimes lets us down when we are feeling low or are taking antibiotics.

The fungus that causes a yeast infection inhabits the warm and moist areas of our bodies. This fact makes women more susceptible particularly around the crotch area.

Usual areas where yeast infections start are the armpits, the groin, mouth and anywhere where your skin generates heat and moisture.

Developing a yeast infection in the mouth is arguably the most unpleasant place to have one.

The root cause of yeast infections is a sudden increase in the amount of yeast fungi present in the body. Increases can be caused by a variety or factors such as a low immune system, poor hygiene and even a by product of taking anti biotics.

The Common Causes of Yeast Infections

Sweating can actually lead to an infection if you do not wash yourself thoroughly. This particularly applies to very active people who take hard physical exercise. It is essential to wash off excess sweat and change out of wet clothing in good time to prevent yeast infection problems from starting.

Sweating is your body's way of cooling itself down, but after exercise wash down to stop that sweat causing yeast infection problems.

People who like to wear tight and restrictive pants can leave themselves prone to yeast infection symptoms. Wearing cotton next to the skin is recommended as this allows the skin to breathe.

An itching and a burning sensation is what normally gets your attention to this area. You might also find you get a whitish, smelly discharge as well.

Another part of the population that is prone to yeast infection is children who wear diapers. In their instance the cause of yeast infection is the restriction of air flow caused by a diaper that is too tight.

It is not always possible to change diapers as soon as the baby has urinated, it is not always obvious anyway. Not taking action on yeast infections only makes them worse, more burning, more itching.

Oral yeast infections occur inside the mouth and are particularly painful on the cheek or the tongue. This is a problem more common to people of advanced years and is probably caused by ill fitting dentures or poor cleaning habits.

Lastly a yeast infection that occurs on the feet or hands is usually caused by excess sweat. Feet are prone to yeast infections if you wear tight restrictive socks that do not allow good air flow.

The good news is that getting rid of infections is not always an expensive deal as there are many home cures for yeast infection problems available.
