Meditating for Beginners: Simple Ways To Start Meditating

Whatever you do for the first time, you're a beginner and this also applies to meditation. If you're just starting to meditate, here are some useful tips.

1. Don't worry about whether or not you are meditating correctly

If you keep close to the instructions during your meditation then you're almost certainly meditating correctly. One of the main aims of meditation is relaxation. So don't spend time worrying about whether or not you're meditating correctly! There's a very high likelihood that you are. And even if you didn't get something quite "right" then, well, does it matter? It's not as though you've just completed an exam. Relax and enjoy the experience.

2. Don't just stick to one meditation method

We're not all the same. Which means that not everyone will get along with the exact same meditation technique. There's also a good chance that if your aim is different, another technique may suit more. Most times, I'll put on my headphones and use a binaural beats meditation because that drops me down into a state of deep meditation quickly and with next to no effort on my part. Maybe it's a lazy way for me to meditate but hey, so what. But for healing myself - maybe an ache or a pain - then a guided meditation would be my choice. For abundance manifestation for instance, I'll likely choose a specific abundance meditation. So don't get stuck in a rut. Find out what suits your own personal needs.

3. Make meditation a habit

It's generally thought that we need at least two weeks of regularly doing something before it becomes habitual. So if you're serious about meditating, commit yourself that you'll meditate every day for the next fortnight. Choose a time that's usually available in your life. A lot of people meditate as soon as they wake up as the ins and outs of daily life don't get a chance to disrupt the routine. Other people just pick a good time of day and go with it - maybe while their partner is watching the news on television.

Whichever meditation technique you choose and the time of day you choose to use it, it's important to start! Otherwise you'll never know how much you can benefit from regular meditation.
